Sand Piper Art- Feminine Beings of Wisdom

Artworks of feminine beings by Roger College.

Why the Sand Piper Title?

I have always had a fondness for the sand piper and other shore birds.

Such wise little birds- always knowing the change of the tides, the breath of the ocean. Their simple beauty and grace is often overlooked.

The elements are so evident in this little bird - Feeding of the earth that is wet with water found by flying through the air. The fact that it is alive is evidence of fire- a sacred fire- a force in all living things.

This little bird always reminds me of the wisedom and grace found in simplicity. This wisdom is something I hope to be an underlying current in all my works, and I hope my future works will contain a more simplistic beauty.

Why are most of my works nude?

A question that I am often asked- or should I say "faced with"- is "why are all your drawings nude?"

The simple truth is-

My works are nude simply because it is what I prefer.

This has been a struggle for me. I have given philisophical answers and reasons of symbolism as why nudity is unnecessary and in some instances wrong.
I have since found the errors of my past about nudity- though I started to give philisophical and symolic answers to why nudity is fine.

As thoughtful and genuine those reasons were, they perpetuate the errors of justifying what I prefer in my art.

In the spirit of the sand piper and simple wisdom it conveys-
My answer now is-

Most of my work is nude because it is what I prefer in my art.

About Me

Roger College
An artist who loves to bring life from the paper, I always strive to meditate on a purpose that my creations would have if they were real. As I continue to grow, I am beginning to think too much thought may be on the purpose rather than the creation itself. Thus some new works will be more about the actual creation than the purpose in which it was created for. Cutting through the chase- I plan to make my new works to be more about what flows from me, and less about why I'm creating or dwelling on superficial "should I" or "should I not".
